Downtown Storrs Center
Mansfield Downtown Partnership

The Mansfield Downtown Partnership has been working for the last few years to create downtown Storrs Center – in the heart of Mansfield.  Storrs Center will be a mixed-use retail / residential / commercial project where a variety of shops, restaurants and cafés, town and market squares, office space, and market rate housing will enhance the quality of life and learning in the community.  The video below gives an overview of the project and the history of creating a true “college town.”

The Mansfield Downtown Partnership, Inc. has been created as an independent, non-profit organization charged with coordinating the enhancement and revitalization of three of Mansfield’s commercial areas - Storrs Center, King Hill Road and the Four Corners.  As a public-private partnership, the organization is composed of representatives from the community, business, town, and the University of Connecticut.

The Storrs Downtown Center is important for the future of the School of Fine Arts at the University of Connecticut. With added services, stores and restaurants available to the patrons at the School of Fine Arts, the School will certainly grow in audience development and participation. Connecting to this link will reveal the plans and dreams for the Storrs Downtown Center. I urge you to access this link and to observe the significant impact that the Storrs Downtown Center will have for all of us in the School of Fine Arts and in the Mansfield Community. This DVD was created by Digital Media students in the Department of Art and Art History.
